HOW THERAPY CAN HELP

This is a space for the delicate moments in between—the lingering grief, the shifts that shake you, and the quiet ache of adjusting to a new reality.

Whether you're mourning something tangible, like the death of a loved one, or grieving the loss of a relationship or something else that was important in your life, therapy offers a place to pause, breathe, and begin again. Together, we'll move at a pace that honors where you are. Some days, we might gently put words to what you’ve lost. Other times, we’ll explore who you’re becoming in the aftermath of change, or practice steadying tools when the waves feel too big.

We may also find ways to tend to the heaviness: creating small rituals, reconnecting with what matters, honoring what was, and shaping meaning from what’s been lost.

Over time, you may start to notice….

  • You can name and acknowledge your grief without feeling like you have to suppress or justify it.

  • You feel less overwhelmed, and more able to stay present when big emotions arise.

  • You begin to recognize the impact of your loss—whether it’s a person, a relationship, a way of life, or a part of yourself—without getting lost in it.

  • You stop comparing your grief to others’ and start allowing your process to unfold in its own time.

  • You begin to rebuild a sense of self, even if it looks and feels different than before.

  • You begin to see new possibilities for connection, meaning, and purpose, even alongside what’s missing.

FAQ

I know that starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s normal to have questions about how it all works. Here, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions I hear from new clients.

  • Absolutely not. While grief therapy can be incredibly helpful after the death of a loved, it’s also a supportive space for any kind of loss or life transition. You might be grieving the loss of a pet, the end of a relationship, a shift in identity, changes in your health, a move, job loss, or the future you imagined but didn’t get.

In therapy, we’ll spend time honoring your losses, naming what’s been hard to carry, and gently reconnecting with yourself in the midst of change.

  • There’s no hierarchy of grief. If it matters to you, it matters. Therapy is a place where all forms of grief are valid—no matter how quiet, complicated, or unrecognized they’ve been by others.

  • Very. Grief doesn’t move in straight lines or on predictable timelines. Feeling stuck doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong—it may just mean there’s more to tend to. Therapy can help you move forward without having to leave your loss behind.
