Compassionate Care for The Changes in Life

Midlife & Aging | Chronic Illness & Pain | Grief & Loss | Trauma & EMDR

Where Courage Meets Compassion

Some seasons of life ask more of us than we know how to manage. If you’re longing for a space to slow down, to speak honestly, and to be held fully in all that you’re carrying right now—you’re in the right place. Here, healing and growth are understood as a layered, ongoing process—like the chambers of an ammonite. This is a space to land softly, tend to what needs attention, and begin healing at a pace that honors your story, your strength, and your body.

ABOUT

Hi! I’m Kelly (she/her), and I’m so glad you’re here.

I started Ammonite Therapy because I believe everyone deserves to be seen and supported through life’s hardest seasons. My experience in community mental health has allowed me to walk alongside people from many different backgrounds, identities, and challenges, and my own journey living with a chronic illness has deepened my passion for this work. I’m especially passionate about supporting those navigating the intersections of health-related stress, illness, and aging, as well as the broader challenges of grief and simply being human in a complicated world.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply respectful of your lived experience. I draw from integrative, evidence-based practices and a multicultural perspective—but more than anything, I offer real, grounded care that meets you exactly where you are. Together, we’ll create space to explore how you’ve gotten here and what healing could look like moving forward—at your pace, and on your terms.

HOW I CAN HELP

Individual Therapy Services

I offer individual therapy for adults of all backgrounds and identities, with a focus on helping you move through stressful life changes, heal from trauma, relate differently to your body, and reconnect with the parts of yourself you may have lost along the way.

Whatever brings you here, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you—gently untangling old patterns, making space for what matters most, and helping you build the capacity to meet life’s messiness with more clarity, steadiness, and self-trust.

  • Every session will look a little different, depending on what feels most supportive for you. Sometimes we may use a more structured approach, like EMDR, Written Exposure Therapy, or Pain Reprocessing Therapy, especially if you’d like to focus on a specific challenge or memory. Other times, our work may be more open and relational—exploring, processing, and creating space for whatever you’re carrying that day.

Above all, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. I’ll continue to check in along the way, while also honoring the cultural and systemic factors shaping your experiences.

  • Some people feel most supported sitting across from someone in the same room. Others feel more at ease talking from the comfort of their own couch. I offer both in-person sessions in Fort Collins and secure online therapy for anyone in Colorado. You can choose what feels best for you.

  • Sessions are $130 for 50 minutes. While I don’t accept insurance directly at this time, I can provide a superbill for those with out-of-network benefits to submit for possible reimbursement. HSA and FSA cards are also accepted.

I also reserve a limited number of sliding-scale spots for clients who need financial flexibility. If you’re considering this option, I invite you to reflect on your financial circumstances—including income, family responsibilities, and other factors that may affect access to care.

Areas I Specialize In

  • Chronic Illness & Pain

Chronic health conditions can show up in many ways—managing autoimmune flare-ups, coping with a physical injury, living with cancer, or facing relentless cycles of inflammation and fatigue. Therapy offers space to better understand your body and explore new possibilities.

  • Trauma & EMDR

Some experiences linger in the body and mind, long after they’ve passed. Trauma therapy—including EMDR, Written Exposure Therapy, and other trauma-informed therapies—offers a way to gently process what’s been held, so you can finally feel more at ease, more whole, and more present in your life.

  • Midlife & Aging

Your roles are changing, your body’s doing its own thing, and somewhere in the mix, you're wondering what’s yours to keep and what you’re ready to rewrite. Therapy gives you space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the version of you that’s still unfolding.

  • Grief & Loss

Change—whether through loss, endings, or unexpected turns—can leave you feeling unmoored and unsure of what comes next. Therapy offers a steady place to slow down, make sense of what’s shifting, and begin to find your footing again.

Why the name Ammonite?

The name Ammonite Therapy comes from the idea that within each of us lies the capacity to grow and adapt when something no longer serves us. As ammonites grew, they built new chambers to move into—expanding gently, layer by layer, while carrying every part of their past with them in the circular shape that was created as they grew and changed. They remind us that healing isn’t about leaving things behind, but about growing around them—integrating pain, change, and resilience into something whole. This winding and growth beautifully reflects the layered nature of being human.

Sometimes we return to familiar places with new understanding. Sometimes we need to hold our past with more tenderness in order to move forward. In therapy, we honor that process. It’s not about becoming someone else—it’s about gently unpacking the layers that have shaped you, so you can see the full picture and grow in new ways. Here, your story is honored not by rushing to fix it, but by walking alongside it—with care, curiosity, and trust in the wisdom you already carry.
